FAQs
Question: What is the nRF52833-QIAA-R chip?
Answer: It is an ultra-low-power multiprotocol wireless SoC from Nordic Semiconductor, built around a 64 MHz Arm Cortex-M4 with FPU in an AQFN-73 package, supporting Bluetooth 5.4, Bluetooth Mesh, Thread, Zigbee, and NFC.
Question: What is the core processor and frequency?
Answer: It features a 64 MHz Arm Cortex-M4 processor with a floating-point unit (FPU), achieving an EEMBC CoreMark score of 217 running from Flash with about 52 μA/MHz power consumption.
Question: What is the memory capacity?
Answer: It includes 512 KB of Flash program memory and 128 KB of RAM. The 1:4 RAM-to-Flash ratio is suitable for running large applications and protocol stacks.
Question: Which wireless protocols does it support?
Answer: It supports Bluetooth 5.4 (including 2 Mbps, Long Range, and Direction Finding), Bluetooth Mesh, IEEE 802.15.4 (Thread and Zigbee), NFC-A tag, and 2.4 GHz proprietary protocols.
Question: What is the purpose of the Bluetooth Direction Finding feature?
Answer: It supports Bluetooth 5.1 Angle of Arrival (AoA) and Angle of Departure (AoD). With ample memory, it can serve as both receiver and transmitter simultaneously, ideal for Real-Time Locating Systems (RTLS) and Indoor Positioning Systems (IPS).
Question: What is the operating temperature range?
Answer: It supports an extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +105°C, higher than the nRF52840's +85°C, making it suitable for high-temperature applications such as professional lighting.
Question: What are the advantages of the AQFN-73 package compared to the QFN-40 package of the QDAA-R7?
Answer: The AQFN-73 package provides 42 GPIO pins within the same 7×7mm footprint, while the QFN-40 version offers only 18. For complex applications requiring many sensor or peripheral connections, the AQFN-73 package significantly simplifies routing and reduces the need for external multiplexers.
Question: How is the RF performance?
Answer: It offers +8 dBm maximum TX power and -103 dBm RX sensitivity in Bluetooth LE Coded PHY mode, or -95 dBm at 1 Mbps. TX current is approximately 4.9 mA and RX current is 4.6 mA.
Question: What hardware security features are available?
Answer: It integrates a 128-bit AES/ECB/CCM/AAR hardware encryption accelerator with support for secure boot and key storage, ensuring wireless communication and data security.
Question: What are the main application scenarios?
Answer: It is widely used in professional lighting, asset tracking, Real-Time Locating Systems (RTLS), advanced wearables, smart home, gaming solutions, and industrial IoT applications.
